Enbridge Gas employees
share story on how little things can make a big
difference
In last month's issue of E-News, we
asked you to submit your stories on how, when it comes to
safety, little things matter. We were pleased to hear from
Dawn Allaby, the JHSC co-chair at Enbridge Gas New Brunswick,
who recounted the following:
“Enbridge Gas New Brunswick employees
are actively engaging in safety and hazard prevention.
Enbridge Gas New Brunswick has a strong commitment to safety,
but we also recognize that there are always ways to

Summer
Safety
Much
of our country's appeal can be found in the distinct
personalities of our four seasons. And while summer is
associated with fun in the sun, this glorious season can
present a number of serious safety hazards for those who work outdoors.
Outdoor workers have an increased
risk of exposure to Lyme disease and the West Nile Virus.
Workers who spend time in wooded, bushy areas are at increased
risk of contacting Lyme disease, an infection caused by
bacteria that are passed on through infected ticks. (In New
Brunswick, Lyme disease is transmitted by deer ticks.) If not
treated, Lyme disease can result in arthritis, nervous system
abnormalities, meningitis, irregular heart rhythm and even
death. More

Ask
Us
Q:
My husband and I own a franchise and we have recently put our
25-year-old son on the payroll. Can we purchase workers’
compensation coverage for him? How about for my husband, who
also provides labour but is not drawing a salary?
Jane Smith* Miramichi, NB
*Name has been changed for
privacy purposes A: Yes, you
may obtain coverage for both your son and husband, however it
depends on how you are set up as an employer and how wages are
paid (proprietorship, partnership or limited company). More
